Application of a model of management by macroprocesses to a beef cattle enterprise: a case study R. Bras. Zootec.
Rosado Júnior,Adriano Garcia; Lobato,José Fernando Piva.
This is a case study that aimed at proposing a management method based on macroprocesses to determine and achieve strategic goals for a beef cattle enterprise in order to maintain or to increase the company's competitiveness. The method suggests using a series of tools mentioned in the literature that were organized providing logical reasons for the managers to build the management system. When mapping the processes of the studied enterprise, four macroprocesses were identified, which were sustained by 21 support processes, in addition to three management processes. The strategic aims were determined by the internal and external environmental analysis, resulting in five priority items, and the processes considered critical to achieve them were described by...

Methodological and empirical progress and challenges in integrated assessment of agricultural systems and policies AgEcon
van Ittersum, Martin K.; Heckelei, Thomas; Oude Lansink, Alfons G.J.M.; Wolf, Joost; Kanellopoulos, Argyris; Britz, Wolfgang.
In this contribution we first present a methodology for integrated assessment of agricultural systems (SEAMLESS Integrated Framework), illustrate its application in an integrated assessment of high commodity prices and then discuss its flexibility and limitations. From there we take a broader view and reflect on key scientific and empirical questions with respect to the development of research tools for the integrated assessment of agricultural systems.

Typology of dairy production systems that meet Brazilian standards for milk quality R. Bras. Zootec.
Defante,Leslié; Damasceno,Julio Cesar; Bánkuti,Ferenc Istvan; Ramos,Carlos Eduardo Crispim de Oliveira.
ABSTRACT We aimed to compare the typology of dairy production systems (DPS) that meet Brazilian quality standards with that of non-compliant DPS. Semi-structured questionnaires were applied in 128 DPS located in Santa Izabel do Oeste, Paraná, Brazil (25°49'16" S and 53°29'04" W). In addition, milk quality reports of each DPS were analyzed. Dairy production systems were segregated into two groups: G1 – DPS that were in accordance with Brazilian regulations on milk quality, and G2 – DPS that did not comply with Brazilian regulations. Exploratory factor analysis was performed on structural, production, and technical variables. Two factors were defined: F1 – production scale and bargaining power, and F2 – autonomy and production control. Groups 1 and 2 were...
